"Isn't that cute." News and recaps!

Admittedly, Tenderfoot Records was quiet and low lying and lo-fi despite strenuous efforts to the contrary. By way of contrast, it is my hope that Made by Humans will be quiet and low lying, but in a much louder, and proudly crackly way. With strenuous efforts now toward dirty sounds, diminished gain, honesty and generosity with musical (soon otherwise, too) creativity our aim is to win your heart. Isn't that cute.

Transfixion Hook studios has been buzzing (both literally and with excitement) in recent days. Firstly, Rockin' Asians (mostly Thomas so far) have been in the studio recording instrument tracks that will most likely make you smile, if not force a full blown chuckle. Vocals are scheduled to be recorded starting tomorrow, with Ms. Inglis and Ms. Evans adding their wit to this interesting project.

Brent Briere has also made a few visits to the studio, recording almost enough guitar tracks for a full album. His writing is clever and interesting in the extreme, he uses droning bass strings over technical, non-repeating melody riffs. Still, the songs are catchy even now, before vocals or other instrumentation. Even with heavily used drone strings, the songs are happy, sometimes epic, and memorable.

As usual, I'm tinkering with new songs. Half of which are musically retrospective and lyrically about whales, the other half musically and lyrically new. They don't all go together, so I still wonder if they could live peacefully on the same record or whether they should be split apart for different uses. But that's just me . . .

And lastly, a picture of this fish which has so enamoured
my father. He sings its song both day and night.
