The Newest in New!

Yo friends! How's all your things?

Transfixion Hook Studio has been occupied, dusted, polished, and reoccupied in recent Mondays. The floor has a nice sheen to it, bouncing laughs and harmonized vocals shiningly to the ceiling. All thanks to an old can with a yellow top that I found under the sink . . . and of course a visit from some talented and creative peoples.

Last week, on the twelfth, Brent Briere returned to the studio focusing on one song this time. We worked at Radio in the Night, a quiet plucky piece for Brent. We started with his Stratocaster, plucking low notes slow and then slower. He was looking for a white noise style sound to drone as a backdrop, passing the whole song. "'It just so happens, my friend, that off-greenish noise is my specialty. White noise should be easy as pie." We ended with an airy effect that gave a pleasant lo-fi character to the song. Brent recorded near whispered vocals for verses and choruses, and then dubbed more rhythmic spoken lyrics near the end of the song. It has the feel of an album opener to me. "Or a closer" He said.

Last nigh, the nineteenth, Rockin' Asians visited the studio. Well, they more like exploded in a whiskey and teased hair convulsion in the studio (said studio happens to be my bedroom) They recorded vocals for two songs about past heroes and destruction. I hope to all hope that I'll be able to capture accurately the vibe from their performance. The songs will make you laugh. Seeing them live, probably for the first time in June, will make you smile.
